> DPL issues RFP for Marpi Land

DESPITE Kan Pacific’s plea for consideration, the Department of Public Lands has issued a request of proposals for 160 hectares of public land in Marpi.

Acting DPL Secretary Patricia S. Rasa made the announcement on Thursday.

According to RFP15-RED006, 374,041 sq. m. of the properties are located on the west side of the main road and this area includes the Mariana Resort & Spa facilities.

The announcement stated that 374,041 sq. m. of properties are located on the west side of the main road: 115,500 sq. m., race kart track; 49,500, mini-golf course and hotel; 69,300 sq. m., main lobby, hotel, cottages; 30,738 sq. m., villas and maintenance facility; and 109,003 sq. m, vacant lot.

On the east side of the main road, there are 1.2 million sq. m. of properties available for lease: 43,637 sq.m., pool, baseball and open field; 905,784 sq. m., 18-hole golf course and club; 30,000 sq. m., house; and four vacant lots measuring 259,202 sq.m.

The deadline for submission of proposals is on May 27, 2016.

RFP packets are now available at the DPL office on the second floor of Joeten Dandan Building, from Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Those off-island can obtain the packets by mail or email.

DPL said the requests overseas should be received by DPL no later than Feb. 26, 2016.

The lease of Kan Pacific, the island’s remaining major Japanese investor, is expiring on April 30, 2018.
